Limestone Grinding Project for Cement Production (25 TPH, 150 Mesh)

Limestone is one of the most widely distributed non-metallic minerals on Earth, with a calcium carbonate (CaCO₃) content usually ranging from 85% to 98%. It serves as a core raw material in the construction industry, especially in cement manufacturing, where it acts as a flux to reduce the melting temperature of clinker and improve the strength and durability of the final cement product.

This article focuses on a large-scale limestone grinding project located in Shandong Province, China, a major cement production base, which is designed to supply a nearby cement plant with high-quality limestone powder at a production capacity of 25 tons per hour (TPH) and an output fineness of 150 mesh. The project not only meets the cement plant’s daily production demand but also sets a benchmark for energy-efficient and environmentally friendly non-metallic mineral processing in the region.

Project Overview
Commissioned in 2024, this project is invested by a leading domestic cement manufacturer with an annual cement production capacity of 5 million tons. The main objective of the project is to reduce the manufacturer’s reliance on external limestone powder suppliers, lower raw material costs, and ensure the stability of raw material quality. The raw limestone used in the project is sourced from a local quarry, with a CaCO₃ content of 92% to 95%, a moisture content of less than 3%, and a maximum particle size of 500mm. The target output fineness of 150 mesh (approximately 106 μm) is determined based on the cement plant’s clinker grinding formula: finer particles ensure better reactivity with clinker during the hydration process, which can improve the compressive strength of cement by 10% to 15% and shorten the setting time by 20%.

The project covers an area of 10,000 square meters, including a raw material storage area, crushing workshop, grinding workshop, powder storage area, and auxiliary facilities. The total investment of the project is 8 million yuan, with a designed service life of 20 years. It employs 35 local workers, including equipment operators, maintenance technicians, quality control (QC) personnel, and management staff, contributing to the local employment and economic development.
