Limestone Filler for Asphalt and Concrete
Application: Producing fine limestone powder (200-325 mesh) used as a filler in hot-mix asphalt (HMA) and as a mineral addition in ready-mix concrete.
Process & Role: Limestone is ground to a controlled fineness. In asphalt, the limestone filler fills voids between aggregates, improves stiffness, and contributes to the mastic's durability. The Raymond mill's ability to produce a consistent particle size distribution is key to achieving optimal asphalt density and resistance to rutting and moisture damage. In concrete, the fine limestone powder can act as a partial cement replacement (up to 10-15%) or a filler to improve particle packing and workability. The mill's product quality directly influences the concrete's early strength and finishability.
These cases illustrate the Raymond mill's role as an enabler of quality, consistency, and value-addition in building material supply chains, proving that mature technology remains highly relevant in modern, cost-sensitive, and quality-driven industrial applications.
