The Vertical Grinding Mill in Modern Cement Production: Limestone processing

The production process begins with pre-crushed limestone being fed centrally onto the rotating grinding table. Centrifugal force moves the material outward under the rollers, where it is compressed and ground. Simultaneously, a stream of hot gas (from a clinker cooler or hot gas generator) is introduced from below, sweeping the ground particles upward.

This integrated drying capability is crucial for handling limestone with varying moisture content, ensuring optimal grinding conditions. The air-powder mixture enters the dynamic classifier, where coarse particles are rejected and returned to the grinding bed, while fines meeting the size specification are carried out to a downstream bag filter for collection.

 

The closed-circuit design within a single machine ensures maximum utilization of grinding energy and minimizes over-grinding. With a production capacity ranging from 0.5 to 30 tons per hour (tph), LIMING's VRM can be scaled to match the needs of both small and large-scale cement plants.

The resultant fine limestone powder exhibits excellent chemical homogeneity and reactivity, leading to more stable kiln operation, lower clinker burning temperatures, and ultimately, a higher-quality, more consistent cement product.
